Aircraft Weight Restrictions

Your Challenge: The weight of setting tools and retrievable plugs can prevent them from being shipped easily and efficiently on helicopters, this can create a costly delay for operators when they then need to wait for a vessel to ship the equipment by sea.

Rig Up Height

Your Challenge: Setting plugs is standard practice in our industry today however at times the length of the setting tool string can present rig up height issues leading to increased cost and additional rig up hazards.

Tubing or Casing Punching

Your Challenge: Tubing or Casing punching for circulating, squeezing, annular clean out etc.

RAZOR Solution: RAZORPUNCH + RAZORBLADE tools can be utilized for punching tubulars from 2 7/8" tubing through to 9 5/8" casing, the tools can be conveyed on slickline, eline, sucker rod or jointed pipe. RAZORPUNCH creates a small amount of debris whereas the RAZORBLADE tool is debris free however it does create localized flaring in the punch area.

Heavy Duty Fishing

Your Challenge:  Heavy duty fishing can be a time consuming business as the slickline operator attempts to deliver as much pulling force at the fish as his equipment allows. At times, fishing can go on for several hours or days.

RAZOR Solution: RAZORBOSS + RAZORRAM can be run on eline or slickline and once the tool anchors in the pipe it can pull as required in any deviation and under pressure, tools are available from 2.125" through to 3.600" OD with axial forces ranging from 30,000 to 90,000 lbs dependent on tool size. This force can be applied directly to the top of the fish and potentially have that fish coming free in no time.

Stroking Downhole Devices

Environmental Plugs for P&A

Your Challenge: On many subsea P&A wells there is a requirement to remove oil based mud from the surface annulus prior to removing the xmas tree. This is generally done with explosive perforating systems which can present various issues due to the shallow nature of the work and of course from an environmental perspective.

RAZOR Solution: Use RAZORBOSS + RAZORPUNCH or RAZORBLADE to eliminate explosives and the added cost of an environmental supervisor offshore.

Your Challenge:   Plugs set for long term isolation can sometimes fail due to exposure of elastomers to temperature and CO2 and many other reasons.

RAZOR Solution: Use RAZORBOSS + RAZOR MPLUG, the MPLUG is an all metal that contains no elastomers eliminating any concerns to long term temperature or CO2 exposure. the MPLUG is rated to 7,000 psi and 400F. 

Leak Detection

Your Challenge: Occasionally tubing or casing develops a leak point for which the exact location must be identified so that a remedial solution can be carried out. 

RAZOR Solution: Use RAZORBOSS + RAZORTEST multi set plug on slickline or eline to quickly pinpoint the location of the leak. The RAZORTEST tool can be set/unset multiple times in a single run helping identify the leak point quickly,  efficiently and in a cost efficient manner.

Is Your Plug Set Properly?

Your Challenge:  Occasionally your may question whether your cast iron, cement or thermite plug is set properly. In some countries it is a P&A requirement to put a down load of a minimum 10 tons to confirm a plug is holding as required.

RAZOR Solution:  Use RAZORBOSS + RAZORRAM to exert downward force on these items to confirm they are firmly set, and as part of the deal we will give you confirmation of the exact weight exerted onto the item.

Need to Lock a Sleeve in Place

Your Challenge:  During P&A operations older components in the completion such as lockout sleeves can inadvertently release when a tool string is retrieved though them during an intervention.

RAZOR Solution: Use RAZORBOSS + RAZORBLADE  on slickline or eline to apply an internal crimp in the sleeve or component to lock it into the out device. This will hold the component in place permanently and avoid any issues associated with an unexpected unseating of the device.

Worried About Getting Blown Up Hole

Your Challenge: Punching tubing for production or pressure equalisation can be a risky business, if the pressure in the annulus is unknown or higher than expected there is a very good chance the tool string may get blown up hole and result in a fishing operation which could last for days or weeks. 

RAZOR Solution: RAZORBOSS + RAZORBLADE can be run on eline or slickline to safely punch the tubing. The RAZORBLADE tool anchors itself to the tubing or casing wall during the punching process, the tool can be programmed to remain anchored in the punch while the equalisation process takes place. Upon equalisation the BLADE is retracted and its business as usual.

Plug & Punch in a Single Run

Your Challenge: Quite often wells will require the setting of a permanent bridge plug and immediately afterwards need to punch the tubing above the plug. This operation is usually performed in 2 runs, which costs time, and therefore money.

Having Trouble Pulling Crown Valves

Your Challenge: Crown valves can occasionally be difficult to pull using conventional slickline jarring methods. When this happens the alternative methods of retrieval can see the operation cost increase significantly. 

RAZOR Solution:  Use RAZORBOSS + RAZORRAM on slickline to apply 20,000 to 60,000 lbs of pull force (depending on tool size run) directly at the plug. RAZORBOSS will also confirm actual force required to pull the plug for future optimisation. 

C02 Causing Problems with Permanent Plugs

Your Challenge: C02 can cause element damage and therefore loss of the pressure seal over long periods of time. This can lead to unscheduled intervention or workover and have significant cost implications.

RAZOR Solution: Try the RAZOR MPLUG, MPLUG is an all metal plug eliminating the concern of elastomer failure and as an added benefit has a 200°C temperature rating.

Need a Permanent Cast Iron Bridge Plug
